JKA Sri Lanka History

  • Formes All Ceylon Martial Arts Association 1987 and also affiliated to Sri Lanka karate Do Federation.
  • 1990 Japan karate Association Sri Lanka branch affiliated to J.K.A Japan.
  • J.K.A Sri Lanka branch started new classes under the J.K.A karate.
    1. Y.M.C.A Mt. Lavinia
    2. Lalith Athulath Mudali college Mt. lavinia
  • 1992- 4th Shoto world cup- Japan represent Sri Lanka two players with sensei D.L Lalith participated open category kata & kumite.
  • 1993-01-09 01st J.K.A Sri Lanka branch championship at science college Mount lavinia.
  • 1994 - appointed sensei D.L Lalith as a General sectary Sri Lanka karate do federation ministry of sports.
  • As official for 12th world karate championship kotakinabalo Malaysia on 8th to 11th December 1994 conducted by world karate federation.
  • 1995- 1st Japan karate Association Sri Lanka branch international black belt diploma test and 2nd Dan test at kamkaru sevana Ratmalana conducted by 8th Dan black belt shihan massahiko tanaka 1st visit to Sri Lanka sixteen black belt diploma test.
  • 1996- 6th shoto world cup Japan representing Sri Lanka one player with sensei D.L lalith participate kata & kumite (open event)
  • 1997- 3rd j.k.a Sri Lanka branch champion ship demonstration at black belt 1st dan and 2nd dan international black belt diploma test at kamkaru sevana Rathmalana on 20-24th June 1997 conducted by shihan masahiko tanaka.
  • Represented sensei D.L Lalith Asian union of karate Do organization international referee course participated at macau in 1997
  • 1998- 7th shoto world cup at France from 27th July to 4th August 1998 Japan karate Association Sri Lanka Branch Invited.
  • 1999- 4th annual Japan karate Association Sri Lanka Branch championship at Sugatadasa Indoor stadium on 30th December 1999.
  • 2000- 8th shoto world cup Japan sensei D.L Lalith represented open event kata & kumite.
  • 2002 international black belt shodan and nidan test conducted by shihan minora kawawada at st: Thomas gymnasium Mt laviniya 24th February 2002 36 black belt diploma holed qualified. 3rd visit to Sri Lanka shihan Masahiko Tanaka conducted black bellt training programe at Y.M.C.A conducted on 14th December 2002.
  • 2004- 5th Annual Japan karate Association Sri Lanka Branch championship held on 8th February 2004 at St Joseph college sport complex - participating south Asian Games 28th march 2004,pakisthan Islamabad sensei D.L Lalith as Coach .-Chamal suranga silva participate 70 kg kumite event Represent Sri Lanka - 09th Shoto World Cup Japan participating J.K.A Sri Lanka Branch Official and players.
  • 2005- April-12th Appointed the sense D.L Lalith as chairman of the Japan Karate Association World Federation Sri Lanka Branch.
  • 2005- 4th visit to Sri Lanka shihan Masahiko Tanaka conducted International Black Belt shodan and nidan test seventy players qualified Black Belt shodan and three players are qualified to 2nd dan test.
  • 2005- All Island School championship won 1st and Best School Sevali Central College Rathnapura Under J.K.A Sri Lanka Branch.
  • 2006- Four Players participate Funakoshi Gichin Cup 10th World Karate Do Championship Sydney Australia.
  • South Asian Games 18-28 2006 at Colombo Won 75 Kg Kumite Event Gold Medal J.K.A member W. Chamal Suranga Silva.
  • 15th Asian Games Doha Qatar 1st to 15th December 2006 Sensei D.L Lalith as National Coach.
  • 6th Annual Japan Karate Association Sri Lanka Room Championship Tournament 16th Anniversary at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium Colombo on 14th January 2007.
  • All Japan Karate Tournament  age 45 year to 50 years Karate Kumite 12th November 2007 to 19th November 2007. Tokyo Japan Shihan, D. L. Lalith, Represent Sri Lanka.
  • 18th Anniversary J. K. A. Sri Lanka Branch in 2008.
  • Japan Karate Association Sri Lanka Branch Team Represent Sri Lanka Indo – Sri Lanka Karate Championship 25th January 2008 Kerala India.
  • The 8th J. K. A. Asia Oceania Training Seminar. 13th March 2009 Represent Sri Lanka Patron D. K. Wijesiri, D. K. Devin Vibushith & Shihan D. L. Lalith.
  • 19th Anniversary J. K. A. Sri Lanka Branch 2010.
  • Black Belt 1st Dan Grading Test on 5th September 2010 at S. Thomas’ College Gymnasium – Mt. Lavinia, Sri Lanka. Chief Examiner Shihan D. L. Lalith, 81 Students participated.
  • 7th Championship Tournament & 21st Anniversary on 23rd January 2011 at Sri Sumangala College, Panadura.
  • The 12th Funakushi Gichin Cup World Karate Do Championship 2011 Pattaya Thailand 18th – 21st August 2011. This Tournament Represent Sri Lanka 23 Players and we won 4th Place Kata year 12 Boys Event SPI Umayangana & 5th Place Kata year 14 year E. G. Dulitha Nuwan Udara both players training Central College Piliyandala. Shihan D. L. Lalith were Represent last World Karate Tournament Kata & Kumite event his age 50 years sit for the 6th Dan Black Belt Examination.
  • 8th Championship Taurnament & 22nd Anniversary held on 12th February 2012 at Sri Sumangala College, Panadura, Sri Lanka.
  • 9th Championship Taurnament & 23nd Anniversary held on 19th January 2013 at St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka.
  • 10th Championship Taurnament & 24nd Anniversary held on 09th February 2014 at St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka.
  • Shihan D. L. Lalith were participated 2012 J. K. A. Autum joint Training Camp in Japan Pass the Instructor B and Judge C.  
  • Shihan D. L. Lalith were participated 2013 J. K. A. Autum joint Training Camp in Japan.  
  • Shihan D. L. Lalith were participated 2014 J. K. A. Autum joint Training Camp in Japan Pass the 6th Dan Black Belt Test.  
  • Sri Lanka Team Represented The 13th Funakoshi Gichin Cup World Karate-Do Championship October 17, 18, 19, 2014 at Nippon Budokan in Japan. S.P.I. Umayangana (Kata) 5th place (Central College Pliyandala), K. Luthra Madushanka Kata 5th place (Science college Mt. Lavinia) and also participated M. Janidu Yasas Fernando (Science College Mt. Lavinia), R. M. Senura Deshan Rathnayake (Lalith Athulath Mudali College Mt. Lavinia), D. K. Devin Vibushith (Belvoir College International Colombo), R. K. Sadil Nimsuka, R. K. Senal Ransika (St. Peters College Colombo), Janidu C. D. Thilakaratne, Niraj L. C. Thilakaratne (St. Thomas College Mt. Lavinia), Ramathi V.
